I’ve always been jealous of women who have strong relationships with their grandma. I know several friends who confide everything in theirs, and who turn to her for counsel on life decisions big and small. But I can’t remember having one meaningful conversation with mine. Unfortunately, it’s too late to fix that. My maternal grandmother, […]

“Comparison is the thief of joy.” -Theodore Roosevelt The comparison game. Let’s stop playing it? The beauty and the flaw of being human is getting to choose what we let other people see (especially in this social media saturated time of life). And more often than not, we choose to let everyone see the good, not […]
As a mom, it can be hard to spend money on yourself: especially on clothing. Sometimes it’s just easier to grab a pair of leggings at Target and a t-shirt that may or may not fit on your way through the store. After having three kids, through struggling to lose the baby weight, I know […]
Every year, my family anxiously awaits what is now an infamous annual letter from a distant cousin: touting that year’s accomplishments and (probably unknowingly) the weird inner workings of their family unit. We love to read it out loud, inevitably crying from laughing so hard at the self-congratulations that arrives in our mailbox in the […]
When I was pregnant, my husband and I initially kept all the baby gifts we received and all the baby items we bought, in our dining room. We called the dining room, namely our large dining room table, the baby staging area. During pregnancy, baby things were limited to the dining room and nursery. The […]
Bribe my kids? Yeah, I never thought I’d do it, either. But, in the hustle and bustle world in which I live, there is a lot that needs to be done every day. I have managed, I think, to fairly delegate some of the responsibilities to the other members of my household. But, there are […]
I’m about to turn 31. I know that’s not old per se, but I’m certainly not 21 anymore. I’m married, have two kids, haven’t had a chance to shave both legs in the same day for … a while, and my daily routine involves mostly butt-wiping. I do still like to consider myself pretty young […]

From the moment you lay eyes on your child, your heart swells with an indescribable amount of love. And it continues to grow with each member that you bring into the family. But […]
How did moms survive without the power of the Internet? Without the ability to peer into other moms’ lives and feel just a little less terrible about themselves? With no simple ways to connect with other moms who will talk you off the ledge? I know I love to hear confessions from other moms about how […]
(Disclosure: Indianapolis Moms Blog received product or payment in exchange for this review; however, all opinions shared are those of the contributor who wrote them.) As I walked in the door, I was immediately enveloped by the energy and enthusiasm of the people already engaging with their punching bags. The ages ranged from teenager to […]
I’m that person you probably hate. I love being pregnant! I feel better in my clothes (for the most part), and I have really easy pregnancies – no morning sickness, no major problems, etc. But, regardless of how much I may enjoy being pregnant, there’s no denying that there are some major differences this time around: 1. […]
